Existing-home sales decreased in March but continue to outpace year-ago levels, according to data released Thursday by the National Association of Realtors.
Total existing-home sales, which are completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops, declined 2.6 percent from February to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.48 million in March. That figure is 5.2 percent above the 4.26 million-unit pace in March 2011. March marked the ninth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases, which NAR called a sign of a recovering house market.Read full article >>

Sales of existing homes rose 7.7 percent in August, according to data released Wednesday by the National Association of Realtors.
The increase to a seasonally adjusted rate of 5.03 million sales exceeded forecasts of economists surveyed by MarketWatch, who expected the rate to be 4.8 million. The increase follows Julyas eight-month low of 4.67 million. Read full article >>
